program principals and goals
The mission of the Christian Leadership and Discipleship Course is deeply rooted to the continuation and expansion of Christian leadership and student responsibilities within our school building and community.
Program Vision:
To confidently meet the challenges of the 21st Century, Grace Lutheran students are actively and enthusiastically engaged in authentic, rigorous and relevant service learning and project based experiences that inspire students to be life-long learners, critical thinkers, leaders and disciples. Specifically, students will engage and have opportunities for growth as a Christian Leader and Disciple in three stages:
Learn/Explore: During this first stage, students will participate in activities, projects and discussions focused on skills essential for Christian Leadership and Discipleship including: building self esteem; taking ownership of personal responsibility, respect and manners; public speaking and communication; learning what it means to be a Christian leader; and ways to create engaging opportunities for themselves and the school community to grow in their faith.
Engage: Team building, goal setting, communication and organization are key components to being an engaged leader. During this stage, students will have the opportunity to explore concepts of leadership, improve their leadership skills in a creative, engaged way, and gain a better understanding of self and sensitivity to others.
Advocacy: The last stage of of this course combines service learning with essential skill development to ensure this success. Students will learn valuable skills like self-advocacy, effective communication, and goal setting in a creative, interactive and engaging way. These skills will serve as a strong foundation as they apply these skills beyond the walls of school.

What we're currently working on:
This term we're introducing Tim Elmore's virtues of leadership and learning about the Art of Self Leadership. Through large and small group discussion, role playing, journaling and some creative art activities, students have the opportunity to reflect on how God is calling personally calling them to lead today!
